Day 2 - 3 Kulkyne to Lake Eyre/Maree

Lake Eyre Basin is one of the most arrid and Inhospitibal places on the planet - Learn some of its incredible history and check out some of the cheapest Aborigional Art at the infamous Marla Roadhouse. Human habitation in this area is underwhealming. Its a vast empty ageless landscape that blows my mind everytime I go through it. Its an Inhospitable Landscape. Timeless and Awe Inspiring. We camp where ever we like. There are No fences, No habitation - No anything. The desert Temperatures can reach below Zero overnight. We carry firewood from Kulkyne.

The Desert Begins to change with most of this area formerly Australias Ancient Seabed. Swim in the Hot Springs at Dalhousie, and begin the trek through the painted Desert Landscape. Your living it now. The Vastness gets into you.

Litchfield for me feels like your in a Jurassic Park Film, but here its the ants that rule. Massive mounts constructed with engineering skills beyond belief dot this landscape, while impossible waterfalls and abundant wildlife fill the park with an eco wonder. The wildlife is largely friendly - dont worry - its Australia !
